Whats new in Arena® 13.0?
Arena® 13 will be released in spring 2009 with new features:
- Periodic Statistics
- Measure time-persistent and frequency statistics over user defined time frames. Currently, these statistics are measured over entire simulation run.
- Direct Read
- Allows user to link Recordsets from FILE directly with variables or expressions.
- Windows Vista Support, last year Windows2000 supported
- new SMART files
- Spread Sheet Sorting
- Allows user to sort spreadsheet modules columns alphabetically in ascending or descending order.
What's new in Arena® 12.0?
- Disable Randomness
- If randomness is disabled, the sampling of a distribution at runtime will return the expected value (i.e., mean) of the distribution instead of a random variate.
- New Plot Animation Tool
- Uses the 3rd party TeeChart control (from Steema Software SL) for the graphics rendering.
- String-Related Enhancements
- Find/Replace Function
- Animations-Enhancements
- Windows Vista Support
What's new in Arena® 11.0?
- String Support
- New OnChange Block
- New Runtime Activation
- Module Placement Preview
- Auto-Connect Enhancement
- Picture Enhancements
- Animate a series of pictures for a trigger value in global picture, a state in resource picture, or a state in transporter picture
Easy way to “randomize” an entity picture
- Queue Animation Enhancement
- Option to animate queue arrivals
- Grid Utility
What's new in Arena® 10.0?
There are quite some changes - take a look at the pdf-file from Rockwell about all the enhancements. Particularly there are the following changes:
- Interactive Model Debugging Enhancements
- Command Window—Command prompt editing capabilities have been improved.
- Runtime Elements Bar—The Runtime Elements Bar now includes an Expressions tab that allows users to view and browse the current values of all specified expression elements in a running simulation model.
- Entity, Transporter, and Resource Summary Dialogs—These summary dialogs have been improved to provide more detailed information in a graphical tree organization.
-
- Drawing-related Enhancements
- Improvements for connecting modules (multiple connections during a single session), animating, drawing, dimension labeling
- Navigation Enhancements
- model thumbnail in the project bar navigation pane
- Template Development Enhancements
- A new Dialog Design window has been added for template development. This window replaces the Operand window interface provided in previous Arena® versions. The Dialog Design window’s features include:
Drag-and-drop, graphical tools for module dialog design.
Operand Explorer tree to navigate a module’s dialog and operand structure.
Properties grid to easily find and edit an object’s data and properties.
- User-Specified Expression Builder Definitions
- Users may now add their own custom expression builder expression strings to a module definition (whereby the expressions are then available in the Expression Builder dialog’s tree-view when a module instance is placed in the model).
What's new in Arena® 9.0?
Arena® 9.0 reached SAT in January 2005.
There are quite some changes - take a look at the pdf-file from Rockwell about all the enhancements. Particularly there are the following changes:
- AVI-films
- Now you can record AVI-films of simulations without the help of external tools.
- Array Sizes
- Array Sizes are still not adjusted automatically, but now they are saved with the model which facilitates passing models to others.
- Copy Protection
- The copy protection scheme introduced with Arena® 5 which used floppy discs to transport licenses is still supported by Arena® 9 but will be discontinued after that. The new copy protection system is called FactoryTalk Activation.
- Arena® Product Family
- The Arena® product lineup was simplified. The big changes are: There is no Standard Edition any more (you get PE as an update if you are under support) and the Professional Edition now includes OptQuest and the FlowProcess template.
Arena® 9.0
- Installation
- If the installer for Arena® 3D Player 2.0 complains that there is not enough storage space, set the environment variable tmp to a directory that has enough space.
Arena® 8.01
- Dialog "Locate Template ..." when starting Arena®
- If Arena® 8.01 displays such a message on startup, do the following: Go to Tools - Options - Folders and click the button Defaults. After that Arena® should work ok.
Arena® 8
- Installation
- Arena® 8 does not run on Windows 95. Arena® 7.01 was the last version that supported Windows 95. The optionally available Arena® 3DPlayer does not run on Windows NT4.
- Arena® 8 cannot be installed together with Arena® 7 - older versions are ok. This will probably be true for future versions as well.
- If you experience problems when deinstalling Arena® 7.01, please try the following: right-click the file Arena 7.01.msi on the Arena® 7.01 CD and select Deinstall...
- Prior to installing Arena® the installation program checks if the system needs to be updated and installs these updates if possible. Should such an update fail, you can try to install it manually (look into the folder Redist on the Arena® CD). As a last resort you can skip the system check and start the installation of Arena® directly by executing WIShell.exe.
- License
- An Arena® 8 license lets you run Arena® 8 and Arena® 5. An Arena® 6 license worked with Arena® 5, 6, and 7.
What's new in Arena® 8.01?
Arena® 8.01 reached SAT in June 2004.
Some minor features and bugfixes plus one big enhancement (especially for universities):
- User Rights
- You do not need to have power user rights to run Arena® any more. You can even install Arena® without administrative rights.
